Reconstructing the
Deconstructed
As the name itself defines the features of the collection, it has been created by deconstructing a men’s windbreaker jacket. The collection started off by deconstructing seam by seam and draping it in different ways to create different silhouettes for women. Moreover, this project was further inspired by several deconstructed architecture from around the world. The silhouettes in this collection were generated by drapings combined with shapes of the architecture. A unique textile with leather cut outs sewn on mesh was created to give an added deconstructed texture to the collection.
The whole idea was to provide a more glamorous appeal by adding details from deconstructed garment like buttons, buttonholes, zippers, pockets and gathered belts. To promote the recycle, reuse and reduce campaign, all the hidden layers such as mesh, linings and raw edges were used to drape and create silhouettes. Fabrics with different weights was used to bring the collection together including cotton poplin, printed crepe, and quilted cotton. Another added advantage of reconstructing the deconstructed windbreaker is that it has given each garment a unique silhouette, texture and has its own construction details. No two garments are same, yet they make an edgy and appealing collection.
