Trapped Within Mind

Trapped Within Mind

This project was inspired by the feeling of being trapped into something. Most of us live with part of our minds trapped within a cage. Living within our own comfort zone is in itself a cage. A cage where we let the world decide how our lives are supposed to be lived or how we care about what people think of us, how having a regular job, or a regular house or many possessions is a necessity to fit in. All of these cages are built by one thing. Fear. If you want freedom, you have to go beyond that. Thus, this feeling made me go beyond some of these physical and metaphorical cages in knitting and inclined me to explore different yarns and create different textures with complete freedom.

I explored different knitting techniques and different stitches in each swatch to create a different effect. The different yarns used in this collection included cashmere wool, tape yarn, boucle, and cotton. The techniques used in swatches included ladder stitch, holding technique, ripple, cable stitch, lace trim, ribbing, eyelets, transfer techniques, hand knitting, and hand stitches.
